Downtown CIP Facade Improvement Grant
The City of Timmins pays back up to 50% of costs, up to $15,000, for facade and storefront-exterior work downtown. This is a cost-share grant, so you pay first and get reimbursed after approval and inspection. Applications are open.
“Provide a grant opportunity up to 50% of costs to a maximum of $15,000 to enhance the outer appearance of buildings in order to foster a unique and coherent atmosphere.”

Before you spend any money
Get the City of Timmins' approval before you start work or buy anything. If you start early, you can lose this funding.
At a glance
Subject to program rules, available funding, and approval. Confirm current details with the official program administrator.
Is this for you?
- You operate a commercial business within Timmins' designated CIP or BIA zone
- You have a plan for exterior facade or storefront improvements
- You are ready to apply and secure approval before spending any money
Probably not the right fit if
- Your business is located outside Timmins or its specific CIP/BIA boundaries
- You have already started or completed the improvement work
- You cannot wait for approval before purchasing materials or hiring contractors
How much you'd realistically get
For example, a storefront refresh (new facade, paint and exterior lighting):
Project cost
$30,000
Program pays
$15,000
You pay
$15,000
That's the program's maximum. A bigger project works, and the amount above the cap is yours to fund.

Up to 50% of costs, to a maximum of $15,000
What may be supported
- Exterior facade improvements that enhance the appearance of downtown buildings
- Storefront / street-facing building exterior improvements
How applying works
Effort: mediumSend the City an application with quotes and photos. Get approval before you start, then claim your costs when the work is done.
- 01Confirm your property is in the program area and funds are available
- 02Get the city's written pre-approval BEFORE starting
- 03Complete the approved work
- 04Submit your costs for reimbursement
Documents commonly required
- Quotes/estimates for the work
- Photos of the current storefront
- Proof of property ownership or owner's consent
What to know before you count on it
- Cost-share: you pay for the work first, then you're reimbursed (about half) after it's done and inspected.
- Apply and get approved before you start any work or buy anything. Work started before approval may not qualify.
- Only businesses in the Timmins downtown program area qualify. Confirm your address before you spend.
- Municipal funding is limited each year. Confirm money is still available.
What are your odds?
Money comes from a yearly budget and is given first-come, first-served. Your business must be in the Timmins downtown program area. Apply as early as you can and get approval before any work starts.

What you can combine it with
You may be able to combine this with provincial or federal programs for the same project. Confirm with the City of Timmins before you apply.
